We're overjoyed to announce that CAPE's participation in Black Arts Fest MKE was a huge success! Our amazing 2023 CAPE Mental Health Movement interns exceeded expectations, fulfilling every promise the team made in their pitch, thanks to the incredible guidance of Planning Chair, Anitra Riley. The event took place at the Summerfest Grounds on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
At the festival, our interns excelled in various roles, contributing to the spirited ambiance. They passionately sold our Be Your Own Hero coloring books that relieve stress, ensuring attendees had accessible therapeutic resources. They also distributed their creative material, including unique Black Arts Fest MKE coloring sheets and zines. The interns also showcased their artistic talents through vibrantly themed face painting and managed the misting tent. They even collaborated on a captivating interactive storm-drain chalk art project for festival-goers, crafting an unforgettable experience.
We're incredibly grateful for the generous support we received, including Dea Wright of Mighty Small Moments' additional tents.
Our interns demonstrated unwavering dedication, arriving punctually and fully staffed during their 10AM-7PM shifts. They worked flawlessly with our volunteers and engaged festival-goers excellently, living and breathing our values of inclusivity, empathy, creativity, leadership, and destigmatization.
Stay tuned for more updates on our positive community impact!
